Watkins Glen is a village of about 2,000 at the southern tip of Seneca Lake in New York’s beautiful Finger Lakes region. This small community is home to some big attractions, including the Watkins Glen International race track and Watkins Glen State Park. The historic Watkins Glen Grand Prix began on the village’s public streets in 1948, marking the post World War II-revival of American road racing. The race moved in 1956 to a permanent track, and the village hosted the world-famous United States Grand Prix from 1961 to 1980. Beyond motorsports, Watkins Glen boasts multiple natural wonders, including Seneca Lake, an amazing array of regional waterfalls, trails, vineyards, orchards and agricultural bounty. Watkins Glen State Park, alive with waterfalls cascading down towering cliffs, was ranked the third-best state park in the country in the 2015 USA Today Reader’s Choice poll.
