About Spring, Texas

Spring, Texas is a city of about 55,000 near Houston. The original town of Spring, much smaller than the current community, still exists and is known as Old Town Spring. This historic railroad community is now one of Texas’ top tourist attractions, featuring more than 150 shops restaurants, art galleries and a water park.  Old Town Spring traces its history back to the early 19th century. At one time, the thriving railroad town had five saloons and a gambling hall. The Depression, Prohibition and relocation of the railroad plummeted Old Town Spring into a downward spiral and population drop until Houston’s 1970s oil boom. The modern-day community of nearby Spring offers its resident a high quality of life, with ample parks, a trail system, arboretum and botanic gardens, and golf courses.
