About Ville Platte, Louisiana

Ville Platte is a community of about 8,000 people in south central Louisiana. Its French name, roughly translating to “flat city”, likely was derived from the flat town site surrounded by hilly northern terrain. Ville Platte is the site of Louisiana’s largest state park, Chicot State Park, which draws visitors from across the country. The 6,400-acre park is known for its rolling hills and water features. The town is at the northern part of an area known as the French Triangle, and is rich in Cr√©ole and Cajun cultural influences. It’s also the birthplace of Zydeco music.
