Take a look at this chart from a brand-new report from the FCC . It shows we beat every other measured Internet service provider in the U.S. based on delivering our advertised speeds.
We’ve worked hard to provide our customers with a service that offers consistently great speeds, and we were excited to have independent validation from the FCC.
It’s the first time the FCC has included data from satellite Internet in its regular Measuring Broadband America report (no other satellite providers were included in this round of study). The FCC found that ‘during peak periods 90 percent of ViaSat (Exede) consumers received 140 percent or better of the advertised speed of 12 Mbps.’
Cool, huh? So here’s how this worked: We agreed to participate in the FCC’s study last fall, and several hundred of our subscribers in different parts of the country allowed the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology and Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (or, more simply, the FCCOETCGAB) to install monitors between their Exede modem and their router or computer. The data collection was actually done by a third-party broadband measurement company called SamKnows, which provided their findings to the FCC for its report.
